Cairns Group

An informal association of 15 agricultural exporting countries, formed in 1986 at Cairns, Australia. Members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Paraguay, the Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, and Uruguay. This group, during the Uruguay Round, sought removal of trade barriers and substantial reduction in subsidies affecting agricultural trade.
