chemokine

A chemokine is a type of cytokine (a soluble molecule that a cell produces to control reactions between other cells) that specifically alters the behavior of leukocytes (white blood cells). Examples include interleukin 8, platelet factor 4, melanoma growth stimulatory protein, etc.
