Rock smaller than boulder and larger than gravel; arbitrarily 1 to 50 pounds or 2 to 8 inches in diameter. Substrate particles 64 to 256 mm (2.5 to 10 inches) in diameter. Often subclassified as small (64 to 128 mm) and large cobble (128 to 256 mm).
