In glycolysis, this enzyme catalyzes the conversion of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and organic phosphate and NAD+ into 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate and NADH and free hydrogens (and vice versa) by transferring hydrogens and electrons between the molecules.
