interleukin 2

A protein factor which is produced by T lymphocytes that have been activated by an antigen. Interleukin 2 stimulates other T lymphocytes to activate and differentiate regardless of what specific antigen is involved. Interleukin 1 and interleukin 2 are both known to be involved in achieving T-cell-mediated immunity.
