multi-infarct dementia

This form of dementia is caused by a number of strokes in the brain. These strokes can cause specific symptoms, depending on their severity and location, and can cause general symptoms of dementia. MID cannot be treated; once the nerve cells die, they cannot be replaced. However, the underlying condition leading to strokes (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes) can be treated, which may help prevent further damage.
