pityriasis rosea

This is a common skin disease of young adults, first appearing as an oval, erythematous and scaly plaque, which is followed in a week's time by a widespread eruption lasting for 6 to 8 weeks. Clinicians should note the "herald patch" and "Christmas tree distribution".
