pterygium

This is characterized by atrophy and hyperkeratosis of the epithelium of the conjunctiva of the eye which is caused by repeated exposure to wind and dust. Clinically it is seen as a winglike growth on the nasal half of the conjunctiva, sclera, and cornea.
