alkylating agent
A substance which contains an alkyl (derived from an alkane) radical, with which it can replace a hydrogen atom with itself in an organic compound. As a result, it can act on DNA and interfere with replication, making it useful for destroying cells such as cancer cells. Selected alkylating agent links:
