allopurinol
An organic molecule used to treat gout and certain blood disorders by preventing excessive amounts of uric acid from building up in the blood. Formula: C5H4N4O. It is a derivative of the purine base hypoxanthine, and inhibits the enzyme xanthine oxidase. Selected allopurinol links:
