autoclave
A machine which is used to sterilize lab glassware, liquid growth media, and medical/biological/lab instruments. Essentially, it is a giant pressure cooker where the objects to be sterilized are placed inside a chamber of high temperature and pressure for an hour or more. The word is also used as a verb (as in, to autoclave something). Selected autoclave links:
