compartment syndrome
Compartment syndrome is the increase of tissue pressure in a closed fascial space because of trauma to the tissue. This increase in tissue pressure constricts circulation and results in ischemia and further tissue injury. The vicious cycle repeats itself and in serveral hours, leads to muscle and nerve death.
