int 1 gene
An oncogene (gene associated with cancer) which causes tumors to form in the breast tissue of mice when a copy of the mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) is integrated into the mouse genome close to it. It is homologous to a gene found in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster which plays an important role in wing development; this suggests that the int 1 gene also plays a role during development in mammals.
