oxygen toxicity
Oxygen toxicity is the complication due to the administration of oxygen to an individual. Symptoms/effects: pulmonary oxygen toxicity: consolidation, edema, alveolar cell hypertrophy, degeneration, and formation of hyline membrane ocular toxicity: retrolental fibroplasia is a risk if premature infants (especially those under 1500 g) are given prolonged oxygen therapy.
