This is the inflammation of the alveolar parenchyma of the lung. Most pneumonias are caused by infections, but some could be caused by physical or chemical agents. e.g. lobar pneumonia: affects the whole lobe of the lung, bronchopneumonia: infection of terminal bronchioles
